Better Health through Biblical Scripture
"Daniel then said to the guard whom the chief official had appointed over Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah, “Please test your servants for ten days: Give us nothing but vegetables to eat and water to drink. Then compare our appearance with that of the young men who eat the royal food, and treat your servants in accordance with what you see.” So he agreed to this and tested them for ten days.
At the end of the ten days they looked healthier & better nourished than any of the young men who ate the royal food. So the guard took away their choice food & the wine they were to drink & gave them vegetables instead." ~ Daniel 1:11-16

Have you ever asked yourself, "How and when did we get so far from what God intended regarding how we live and how we maintain (or don't) our health? Most is blamed on convenience that we rely on in our busy, hectic lives but just as much if not more of the blame should be put on the deception in which we have allowed ourselves to fall victim.
If we go back to the Bible and how God created heaven, earth and every creature we would also see how he described the plan for healthy living and proper diet.
Rick Warren, author of The Purpose Driven Life, in collaboration with several prominent doctors now have a website devoted to health and wellness, God's way called The Daniel Plan. http://www.danielplan.com/
The site gives Bible based plans better eating and living as well as evidence based research to back it up and support through motivational stories of success to help you through.
As far as educating yourself about medications and their role in the big picture that is healthcare, cardiologist James Marcum MD, is trying to make this re-learning process a bit easier and shows how pharmaceutical companies have taught us not to trust natural as having all our bodies need and that "whole foods" really aren't whole anymore-perpetuating the misconception that "More is Better" and "Big Brother Knows Best". He has written a book on the subject titled The Ultimate Prescription, which is very insightful and an easy read-relating it to Biblical descriptions of eating to truly nourish our bodies.

Shekhinah
It was a day not unlike any other.
I woke up and tried to mentally prepare myself for my day by making a list of all I had to do. I began my normal routine of exercise, shower, dress and breakfast before tackling the "accomplishments" of the day. The only difference on this day was a calm, soft voice heard somewhere inside speaking one single word-"Shekhinah". I was immediately surprised and curious as to why this word was so prominent in my thoughts, what was its meaning and what was significance in my life? Although it was surprising I soon put it to the back of my mind and went about my day. Over the next couple of months, this word continually appeared in my consciousness and I knew then that I needed to take a much closer look at this word and what it represents.

The First Noel: Christ is Born
And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” -Luke 2:8-12
Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,
“Glory to God in the highest heaven,
and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”
When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.” - Luke 2 13:15
They hurried to the village and found Mary and Joseph. And there was the baby, lying in the manger. After seeing him, the shepherds told everyone what had happened and what the angel had said to them about this child. All who heard the shepherds’ story were astonished but Mary kept all these things in her heart and thought about them often. The shepherds went back to their flocks, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen. It was just as the angel had told them. - Luke 2:16-20
