Morning Glories Beginnings:The Book

Morning Glories Devotionals started as a collection of inspired writings and was published as a book in 2009. I began writing in 2006 when the Holy Spirit spoke to me one word "write". I, of course, did what came natural. I argued. I gave every reason why I shouldn't or couldn't write. I never have-don't know how-have nothing to write about. With each excuse I received a one word rebuttal-write. Three times the Holy Spirit spoke the single word-write. So, with that, I picked up my pen and a legal pad and began writing whatever came to mind. The first couple of pieces were very short but within 2 weeks I was writing 900-1200 word stories with a new divinely inspired topic every 2 weeks. Within a year I had a substantial collection. I prayed about what I was to do with what I had accumulated. The result of my inspired labor is the book you see above. It is meant to be a study devotional with room for journaling so that your Bible study can be your own personal discovery experience. The First Noel-The Covenant

We all know what Christmas is but do you really know what happened preceding the first Noel and what it all meant? If we knew the history maybe then we would realize how much meaning there is in the Christmas holiday beyond shopping, candy canes and Santa Claus!

Let's begin looking at Christ's birth (Christ-mas) and what led up to it. The next few blog posts will be about our relationship to God as a people, his promise to us and his plan to bring it all together.

WHAT?!?!?

Now all that tedious text was just to say that no matter what path you chose to trace how Jesus came to me the Messiah, it still makes sense. It was God's perfect plan-his covenant with Abraham for us all. He promised that his descendant would one day be the redemption for the nations.


When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to him and said, “I am El-Shaddai—‘God Almighty.’ Serve me faithfully and live a blameless life. I will make a covenant with you, by which I will guarantee to give you countless descendants.”

At this, Abram fell face down on the ground. Then God said to him, “This is my covenant with you: I will make you the father of a multitude of nations! What’s more, I am changing your name. It will no longer be Abram. Instead, you will be called Abraham, for you will be the father of many nations. I will make you extremely fruitful. Your descendants will become many nations, and kings will be among them! “I will confirm my covenant with you and your descendants after you, from generation to generation.

 This is the everlasting covenant: I will always be your God and the God of your descendants after you. And I will give the entire land of Canaan, where you now live as a foreigner, to you and your descendants. It will be their possession forever, and I will be their God.” - Genesis 17:1-8

Then Jesus made a circuit of all the towns and villages. He taught in their meeting places, reported kingdom news, and healed their diseased bodies, healed their bruised and hurt lives. When he looked out over the crowds, his heart broke. So confused and aimless they were, like sheep with no shepherd. “What a huge harvest!” he said to his disciples. “How few workers! On your knees and pray for harvest hands!” ~ Matthew 9:36-38

God's Materpiece

For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. - Ephesians 2:10

"From a health perspective, our biggest challenge is to cope with the

circumstances of life and its associated stressors along with relationship

stressors in a healthy way. For the most part, our behaviors in response

to these life events and stressors are attempts to meet our most basic

needs of love, acceptance, self worth, security and identity. We have two

options. We can choose to include God in our efforts to manage our life

It is true that our reaction to any situation we face is a form of coping with the stress of that circumstance. We all have a choice in how we react. What we chose is determined in a large part by our beliefs, values and emotional state at the time of the occurance. A strong faith in Jesus Christ and his teachings gives a strong foundation to see circumstances with a perspective of hope. That is not to say that having a Christian faith will guarantee a stressfree, illness free life but scientific studies have proven that having a strong faith results in lower stress and less of the illnesses that come with that stress.

She took the utmost pride in her work and gave meticulous attention to detail not to mention she was a very caring person. All of these attributes were precisely the reason why she was the favorite unit clerk among all doctors on the cardiac floor of the local hospital. Along with a good job, Blair had a loving husband and four precious children. She confessed belief in God and Jesus Christ and continually admitted being blessed. Yet there seemed to be something missing-something that was keeping her from being truly content.

Blair had a very troubled childhood and could not count on her mother to be the role model she needed. The only love and security she had ever known as a child came from her stepfather who had died just a couple of years ago. While dealing with her grief she would always verbally acknowledge blessings in her life but then would finish by expressing the frustration she experienced either with work, kids, her husband or all of the above! This behavior started becoming routine and the frustration began to intensify with much of it stemming from petty grievances toward her husband. Socks on the floor, clothes folded ‘incorrectly’ and crumbs left on the kitchen counter were offenses that were so disturbing to her that their marriage was in jeopardy. A pleasant weekend would bring hope of reconciliation only to be followed by the frustrations of daily life.

Love the Lord your God with all you heart, soul & strength. The next is just as important-Love your neighbor as yourself. ~ Jesus
